SHSU Receives Favorable Rankings From

AHDusk090519square.jpgAs websites and publications continue to release rankings of colleges and universities nationwide, Sam Houston State University is consistently receiving top marks. compiles data on numerous topics including scientists, universities, journals and conferences to provide people with information on high-quality institutions and the research they produce.

When examining colleges in Texas, considered factors such as the median and 90th percentile cost of attending a Texas college. According to the site the range from the median value of $25,359 and the 90th percentile of $65,135 emphasizes the importance of considering finances when selecting a college to attend.

In its 2023-24 rankings, SHSU was ranked 25th among the Best Colleges in Texas list. The university also placed well in the Best Value Colleges in Texas, ranking at 42. Among’s rankings for colleges over larger areas, SHSU placed highly as well, such as the Best Colleges in the South, Best Public Colleges, Best Value Colleges in the South, Most Popular Colleges and more.  

These rankings are based on metrics such as tuition, acceptance rate, gender distribution of applicants, academic performance, graduation rates, financial aid and other factors. Among these metrics is a breakdown of the average SHSU alumni make based on the degree they earned, showing prospective students how their education at SHSU can led to higher salaries.
