The Sam Houston State University Kat Chats panel discussion event on March 28 is a collaboration between the Alumni Association and the College of Arts and Media. The free event aims to connect students with alumni and will feature two Bearkat alumni - Morgan Chesky and Mia Gradneywho have achieved impressive careers in the broadcast journalism industry.

Gradney (’98), is an Emmy Award-winning talent who currently serves as the evening anchor at KHOU 11 News in Houston. Chesky (’08), is a correspondent for NBC News whose reports can be seen on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, The Today Show and all NBC platforms.

Chesky meets with SHSU studentsAlumnus Chris Tritico (’83) will serve as moderator for the discussion. A criminal defense attorney, Tritico hosts Fox26Law and is the legal analyst for Fox 26 and News Radio 740 KTRH in Houston.

Open to the community, Kat Chats provides an opportunity for SHSU students and others to learn from and engage with successful alumni and find out how they have excelled in their field since completing a degree from Sam Houston State. It is an excellent chance for students to gain insight, ask questions and network with professionals in the field.

The event is free and takes place at 2 p.m. on March 28 in the University Theatre Center’s Erica Starr Theatre on the SHSU campus. Current SHSU students in attendance will have the chance to participate in a drawing for a scholarship award.
