Spring 2022
SHSU Media Contact: Emily Binetti

AnthonyAnthony Travalent (’13, ’15) is part of the Sam Houston State University Young Alum group, and also a member of the SHSU 1879 Society. This society recognizes individuals who make planned gifts including appreciated assets, bequests, gift annuities, trusts, life insurance and real estate.

Anthony also holds an MBA from West Texas A&M, and is a CPA with Occidental Petroleum Corporation. He began his career with Anadarko Petroleum after attending a popular recruiting event held on campus by the College of Business Administration.

Through his experience and willingness to travel, Anthony was able to take a position as an expatriate working in Mozambique, Africa. While there, he had a near death experience, contracting a bacterial infection. This, and his strong desire to ensure that his family was taken care of, were reasons that Anthony found an estate lawyer and started his own trust with the first distribution being to SHSU.

“Start estate planning early and find a quality estate lawyer and financial planner to guide you,” he advises other young alumni. “Having both a financial planner and trust can give you that peace of mind and reduce the stress on your family when the unthinkable happens. Most of us do not like thinking about our mortality and what will happen when we pass, but it is important to plan that out as early as possible and leave a legacy you can be proud of.

Anthony is a Life Member of the SHSU Alumni Association.
