Amanda Withers Named Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President for Operations at Sam Houston State University

Amanda Withers has been named chief financial officer and senior vice president for operations at Sam Houston State University. Previously transitioning to the position on an interim basis since January, she will officially assume the role on Sept. 1.
“I am both thrilled and honored at the opportunity to continue serving SHSU through this new role,” Withers said. “I look forward to continuing to work with the campus community members to support our students.”
Withers will report directly to SHSU president, Alisa White, and serve as a member of the Cabinet. Overseeing the university’s division of finance and operations, Withers is responsible for maximizing SHSU’s operating performance and achieving its financial goals. Her role provides leadership to over 300 staff members for SHSU facilities, finance, human resources, and the university police department.
Withers brings more than 16 years of experience to the position. Since 2010, she has served SHSU in several finance roles, including assistant vice president of finance and controller. Prior to joining SHSU, Withers worked in accounting with Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
Withers earned her master’s degree in business administration and bachelor’s in agricultural business from SHSU. She is also a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas.
“Mrs. Wither’s professional experience has been a great resource for our university,” Alisa White, SHSU president said. “She has already played an instrumental role on major projects including the final construction phase of our new residence hall and the initial construction of the Agriculture Complex at Gibbs Ranch. She is an excellent contributor to Cabinet discussions, and I’m delighted to have her on board.”
