The Division of Student Affairs has announced the new recipients of the Student Affairs Student Employee Scholarship. This year, the division awarded $1000 for Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 to Summer Davis, Jillian Choquette and Adriana Acuna.

“Our student workers do an outstanding job. They are such a dynamic group of people,” said Frank Parker, vice president of Student Affairs. “Our office would really have difficulty operating without that student help. We enjoy giving them the opportunity to receive this scholarship.”

Davis is a sociology major who is also earning a minor in legal studies and Spanish. Davis is a former student assistant for the Center for Diversity & Intercultural Affairs.

“Receiving this scholarship means so much to me. I plan on going to law school and applying to law school is really expensive,” Davis said.

Choquette is an education major who is also earning a minor in mathematics. Choquette is active in many roles across campus including lead staff for Bearkat Camp, a challenge course facilitator for Rec Sports at University Camp and was a former university host.

“Not only is it assisting my financial aid at the university, but since I am an education major, I feel like it can help my future students as well,” Choquette said. “I would like to add an additional thank you to the staff in Student Affairs for contributing to the fund for this scholarship that I have received.”

Acuna is majoring in early childhood education and a former resident advisor. Acuna says she is grateful to know that her bosses and everyone in Student Affairs are contributing to her education through this scholarship fund.

“I was able to buy my textbooks and not have to pick up an extra job while student teaching,” Acuna said. “I have been able to really focus on my education and I will be graduating summa cum laude.”
