seal_blue_revThe search for the next President of Sam Houston State University is proceeding as planned, with the expectation of a sole finalist being named by the end of June, 2020.

A few quick updates on the search process:

-Based upon feedback from the executive search consultant, Academic Search, there has been strong Texas and national interest in the position, with more than 200 nominations, prospects, and applicant inquiries to date.

-Since February, the position has been advertised widely and distributed to hundreds of potential candidates across the U.S., as well as to all presidents and cabinet level positions in Texas and at all AASCU institutions.

-High-quality candidates continue to be strategically recruited with a priority deadline for applications to ensure consideration of May 8, 2020

-The Advisory Search Committee will meet for the second time virtually in mid-May to begin reviewing candidates and narrow the pool to approximately a dozen individuals.

-The Advisory Search Committee will then meet for the final time in early June to virtually interview candidates and narrow the candidate pool to a small number of finalists who will be moved into due diligence and recommended to the Chancellor for his consideration.

-After a sole finalist is selected and publicly announced, the finalist will be introduced to the campus community through an aggressive schedule of open forums and meetings with key stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and community members, while adhering to appropriate safety and health guidelines. Additional updates will be posted to the presidential search web site as they become available.
