During the Texas State University System Board of Regents quarterly meeting in San Marcos, TX on May 23-24, the following items were approved for Sam Houston State University:

Naming of the newly constructed Alumni Center and renaming of the previous facility. The new Alumni Center, located at 1605 Sam Houston Ave., will be named the John R. Ragsdale Alumni Center. The previous facility will be named the Visitor Center.

Mr. Ragsdale’s name was forever emblazoned on the SHSU campus when his remarkable gift was celebrated through the naming of the first John R. Ragsdale Visitor and Alumni Center in 2007.

Today, due to overcrowding, SHSU’s Visitor Center and Alumni Center will be housed in two separate facilities. The newly remodeled John R. Ragsdale Alumni Center will provide more space to the association’s significant membership growth.
