The Sam Houston Memorial Museum is pleased to announce its 2019 Photo Contest. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Sam Houston Memorial Museum photo contest.  Casey Roon, Curator of Exhibits, wanted to bring something new to the Museum, and with her love of photography, the photo contest was born.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for amateur photographers of all ages to have their work displayed prominently in a gallery setting of an accredited museum,” Roon said. “To celebrate our 10th year, if you enter two photos in all five categories, we will accept your 10th entry free.”

Ten Curator’s Choice awards will also be given.  The categories for submission this year are ‘Abstract,’ ‘Pets,’ ‘Architecture,’ ‘Faces/Figures,’ and ‘Nature.’  Deadline to enter is Tuesday, Oct. 1 by 4:00 p.m.

Cost per entry is $5.00 and payment method is cash only.  Each photo entry must have its own entry form.  Photographs must be submitted as full 8”x10,” unmounted, unframed, and with no border.  No exceptions.  Photos will not be accepted that have titles and names printed on the front of the image, and entries must be suitable for family viewing.  Photographers may enter as many categories, as they like, but no more than two (2) photos per category.

The photo contest exhibit will open to the public on Friday, Nov. 1 and stay on display until Jan. 19, 2020.
