The Sam Houston State University Sport Management program will host “SHSU Night with the Houston Rockets” at Houston’s Toyota Center on March 30.

Students, faculty, staff and alumni are invited to join in on the fun as the Rockets take on the Phoenix Suns at 7 p.m.

“We are excited to be partnering again with the Rockets,” Ryan Zapalac, associate professor in the kinesiology department said. “The Rockets have provided our students with incredible access to many different benefits to help make the night extra special and we will have a large number of events and activities for SHSU attendees.”

In addition, event sponsors and alumni who purchase designated blocks of tickets will be invited to take part in a free VIP event from 5:00-6:45 p.m. The VIP Event will feature SHSU Provost Richard Eglsaer, Head Football Coach K.C. Keeler, SHSU special guests, and the 2018 SHSU Sport Management Industry Impact Award recipient, Gretchen Sheirr who serves as Chief Revenue Officer for the Houston Rockets.

Sheirr is in her 17th season with the Houston Rockets, and her second as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO).  She previously served as Vice President of Sales & Service.  Sheirr is responsible for the sales, service, and overall revenue strategy for the organization.

A purchased ticket to the game is required for the VIP event and those attending will need to enter through the Team Shop Entrance. To register for the VIP event, please register online

Walking distance to the Toyota Center, a student pre-game dinner will take place starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Lake House restaurant in Discovery Green park. All SHSU students who have a ticket for the game are invited to the Lake House for a free meal followed by an Easter egg hunt raffle. The event is sponsored by Student Affairs. Students must register online for the meal.

After the final buzzer of the game, all SHSU attendees will have the opportunity to get on the home court of the Rockets and shoot free throws.

Everyone is encouraged to show off Bearkat pride at the event by wearing SHSU attire. There will also be a limited number of giveaways for SHSU attendees.
