Mass Comm Student Orgs To Promote At MCOMICON

Sam Houston State University Department of Mass Communication’s annual “MCOMICON” organization fair will be hosted on Thursday, Sept. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 8 from 1 to 3 p.m. in Dan Rather Communications Building Room 301 to showcase the different student organizations within the department.

The purpose of “MCOMICON” is to present to students the unique clubs and organizations that are within the Department of Mass Communication and to recruit those interested in being involved, according to Public Relations Student Society of America president Teddi Cliett. 

“We want to continue this tradition of MCOMICON and really establish a link between the organizations in our department,” Cliett said. “PRSSA is hosting it for the first time, so we hope that students university-wide can find common-interests with the clubs that we have to offer.” 

As many students in the past have been unable to attend the event during the class day, Cliett felt that all students should have the opportunity to meet with the mass communication student organizations.

“We incorporated an evening fair this year,” Cliett said. “It’s very important to us that anyone who is interested can attend. Our organizations are also welcome to students of all majors and minors so we don’t want that to hold anyone back from attending.”
