Graphic Design, Bachelor of Fine Arts

Available: On Campus

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design focuses on creating visual solutions to communication problems. Throughout the program, you will develop a portfolio of your work, participate in a Graphic Design Senior Exhibition, and have the opportunity to have your portfolio reviewed by professional designers. We have a lot to offer, including digital labs with state-of-the-art computer equipment for your use.

Coursework

All students must complete the W.A.S.H. (Workshop in Art Studio and History) upon entering the Art Program and pass a BFA portfolio review in their sophomore year in order to continue in the BFA program.

Students in the Graphic Design Program will take courses in typography, website development, illustration, package design, corporate identity design, and motion graphics, among others.

This degree can be coupled with teaching certification.

The Art Department requires its students to own a Mac laptop with the current version of Adobe Creative Suite. This policy allows students to be as productive as possible without the confines of class schedules and lab hours. Financial aid and SHSU discounts are available to offset the cost. Get details about financial aid and discounts for laptops.
