Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)
The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a multiple-choice exam that measures a student’s readiness for nursing and allied health programs. It assesses fundamental academic skills essential for success in coursework, covering key areas such as reading, mathematics, science, English, and language usage.
TEAS Exam Details
- Test Delivery Options: In-person or remote.
- In-person exams are located on the SHSU Huntsville campus.
- The remote option allows you to test remotely at your home.
- Exam length: 3 ½ hour time limit
$53.50 (paid to the Testing Center)
$70.00 (paid via credit card to ATI on test day)
All fees are non-refundable, non-transferable
- Please arrive to the center 15 minutes before your exam start time.
- Testers must bring the following forms of ID and information with them on test day:
- Valid Photo ID – may not be expired and must have photo.
- Examples: Driver’s license, passport, state-issued ID, military ID, student ID.
- Valid Secondary ID – no photo necessary.
- Examples: Secondary photo ID, library card, credit/debit card.
- ATI login information (username and password)
- Valid credit card
ATI will provide you with instructions regarding test day requirements for the remote environment. Generally, you should be prepared to show two forms of ID on camera, prior to testing.
- When testing at SHSU in-person, your scores will be available immediately upon completion of the exam.
- Scores for a remote exam are available in a Pending status immediately upon completion, and then officially validated 3 or less business days.
- There is no waiting period to retake the TEAS exam. Students may retest at any time, based on availability of the Center.
