Welcome to Sam Houston State University!

 

Whether you’re beginning your college journey as a new Bearkat, joining us as a transfer student, or returning to campus for another exciting academic term, I’m thrilled to welcome you to our SHSU community. You chose a university that believes deeply in student success, and in Student Affairs, we believe that learning, growth, and discovery happen everywhere, not just in the classroom.

 

Your college experience is about finding your people, discovering your purpose, and building the skills that will shape your future. Our Division of Student Affairs is here to support you every step of the way. From getting involved in student organizations and leadership development, to accessing health and counseling services, to creating a sense of belonging in our residence halls, our team is committed to helping you thrive academically, personally, and socially.

 

We are passionate about creating a vibrant, inclusive campus where every student feels supported, challenged, and empowered. The experiences you engage in outside of class, late‑night conversations, campus events, service projects, and leadership roles are often the moments that define your time at SHSU and prepare you for life beyond graduation.
