Research Laboratories & Facilities
At Sam Houston State University, our research facilities are more than spaces—they’re catalysts for transformation. These labs empower Bearkats to lead in service to their communities through science, sustainability, and innovation. Whether advancing environmental health or solving complex diagnostic challenges, our labs reflect SHSU’s commitment to authentic success and mutual transformation.
Delivering high-quality analytical services and method development, the TRIES Analytical Laboratory supports SHSU’s academic community and serves local, industrial, commercial, and municipal partners. It’s where precision meets purpose.
This multidisciplinary center provides expert diagnostics in animal and plant health, as well as pest identification. The lab plays a vital role in protecting ecosystems and supporting sustainable agricultural practices. Contact: Autumn Smith
The TRIES Diagnostics Laboratory for Human Health is a non-profit serving Sam Houston State University research community. Our services and instruments are as comprehensive and accessible as possible to increase faculty, staff, and student research productivity, in addition to researchers from other institutions and local communities. We are a CLIA certified laboratory, guided in operations by safety, data integrity and laboratory ethics, quality, and service, and continually strive to build and strengthen collaborative relationships. The TRIES Invertebrate Research Laboratory provides invertebrate research and identification services to the local community, as well as industrial, commercial, state and government clientele.
