Board of Regents Meeting

Texas State University System
Board of Regents Meeting

Greetings! Welcome to Huntsville and to Sam Houston State University. It is a privilege to host the August meeting of the Texas State University System Board of Regents, and we are delighted to welcome you to our campus and community.

Welcome to Huntsville and to Sam Houston State University. It is a privilege to host the August meeting of the Texas State University System Board of Regents and to welcome you to campus.

Sam Houston has continued to build momentum across several key areas. We’re continuing last year’s trend of enrollment increases and are expecting a good bump this fall. We celebrated the opening of the new Health Professions Building in Conroe, expanding opportunities in high-demand healthcare fields, and the construction of the Active Learning Center on the Huntsville campus is well under way. The expansion and renovation of our School of Nursing at The Woodlands Center is progressing well and will increase our nursing cohort capacity by up to 70%.

We are proud of our students, campuses, and progress, and we encourage you to explore what makes Sam Houston special.

On Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., we invite you to visit our Smith-Hutson Financial Center and Trading Floor. In this new space, students will monitor global markets, track stock movements, and assess economic trends.

The August Board of Regents meeting will convene at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday in the Orange Ballroom on the second floor of the Lowman Student Center. Lunch on Thursday will be served in room 230 of the Lowman Student Center. We look forward to hosting you for dinner at the club level of our much-anticipated state-of-the-art bound-to-be-good-luck Bowers Stadium Press Box. We are excited to show it off to you.

Throughout your stay, transportation will be provided between the University Hotel and all scheduled events. Should you need assistance at any point about anything, please contact Dr. McCartney Johnson at (423) 946-7123 or Jennifer Alexander at (817) 685-5900.

Thank you for your continued leadership and for your dedication to the Texas State University System and its mission. It is an honor to share with you the remarkable progress and spirit of
Sam Houston State University.

Sincerely,

Alisa White, Ph.D.
President
