Military Science Alumni Club

MSAC is composed primarily of alumni who participated in the Army ROTC program at Sam Houston State University. Membership is open to individuals who:

• Completed at least one semester of Military Science coursework at SHSU
• Are the spouse of a Military Science alumnus or alumna
• Have been recognized by the club for their contributions to military science education or support of the program

Our members include military veterans, active-duty service members, retirees, community leaders, and supporters who share a commitment to the Bearkat Battalion and its legacy of service and leadership.

Our Mission

The mission of the Military Science Alumni Club is to support the SHSU Military Science Department and Bearkat Battalion through:

• Scholarships for deserving cadets
• Financial support for program initiatives
• Leadership development opportunities
• Alumni engagement and mentorship

MSAC works closely with the Professor of Military Science, ROTC cadre, and cadets to help develop the next generation of military and civilian leaders.

Supporting Future Leaders

For more than a decade, MSAC members have provided scholarships to outstanding ROTC cadets. One of the club's most meaningful contributions is the Captain Rowdy J. Inman Memorial Scholarship.

Captain Rowdy J. Inman, Class of 2000, was killed in action in Iraq in 2007 while leading his soldiers in combat. He was the first SHSU Military Science graduate to make the ultimate sacrifice during the Global War on Terror. This scholarship honors his legacy of courage, selfless service, and leadership by supporting future Bearkat Battalion officers.

Building Lifelong Connections

Beyond supporting cadets, MSAC serves as a network for alumni and friends of the Bearkat Battalion. Many members formed lifelong friendships during their time at SHSU through ROTC, military service, and shared experiences as Bearkats.

Throughout the year, alumni gather to:

• Reconnect with classmates and fellow veterans
• Attend university and ROTC events
• Celebrate cadet achievements
• Share professional and military experiences
• Strengthen the Bearkat military community

A Global Network

MSAC's reach extends far beyond Huntsville, Texas. Our members live and serve across the United States and around the world, creating a diverse and connected network of Bearkat leaders. Club leadership remains committed to growing the organization and expanding its impact on both the SHSU community and future generations of cadets.
