Taking Flight and Giving Back

Brent Nedbalek ’07 turned an unexpected introduction to aviation into a successful career - and an opportunity to support others along the way

Nedbalek’s aviation career began with an unexpected encounter in 2002. After transferring from Blinn College to Sam Houston State University, he was delivering newspapers when he met someone who worked in aviation. What started as a casual introduction soon became an opportunity to learn the business from the ground up.

Nedbalek began spending time in hangars in Brenham and College Station, taking on entry-level tasks while learning everything he could about aircraft maintenance and operations. With a broom in hand and a willingness to learn, he discovered a passion that would eventually shape his career.

Brent NedbalekWhile continuing to pursue aviation, Nedbalek earned his degree in general business administration from SHSU in 2007 and completed his pilot ratings and licenses. Before long, his growing interest in flying had developed into a career - and eventually, an opportunity to build businesses of his own.

Over time, that career expanded beyond the cockpit. Nedbalek founded Aviators Plus, an aircraft maintenance and repair company focused on quality workmanship, responsive service and trusted relationships with aircraft owners. In 2017, he expanded his work in the industry by launching Triton Air, providing private air travel designed around clients’ schedules, comfort and safety.

Together, the two companies reflect Nedbalek’s entrepreneurial spirit and years of experience in aviation. What began as curiosity inside a hangar has grown into businesses serving travelers, aircraft owners and aviation enthusiasts throughout Texas and beyond.

Along the way, Nedbalek has flown some notable passengers, including IndyCar legend A.J. Foyt and actor Chuck Norris. He has also experienced aviation from remarkable vantage points, including the starting line of the Indianapolis 500.

Yet some of his most rewarding moments remain much simpler: watching an airplane he has worked on leave the ground.

Away from the hangar, Nedbalek brings that same enthusiasm to the community he calls home.

Nedbalek and his wife, a former educator, are raising their three children with deep roots in the Brenham area and a shared commitment to giving back. Over the years, he has supported youth athletics, helped fund a new gym floor through matching gifts, contributed to the Washington County Fair and sponsored individuals and teams throughout the region.

Nedbalek welcomed families, friends and aviation enthusiasts for a fly-in featuring aircraft displays, a classic car show and opportunities for guests to experience the world of aviation.

He also invited Sam Houston State to participate, helping the university connect with alumni, friends and prospective students. In doing so, Nedbalek used a celebration of his own success to create opportunities for others and strengthen his connection to SHSU.

His entrepreneurial success has also earned recognition through the Sam Houston 79, which honors the fastest-growing Bearkat-owned or Bearkat-led businesses. Whether he is in the air or investing in the community he calls home, Nedbalek continues to help others, create opportunities and be a champion for those who need someone in their corner.
