STEAM in School

Multiple students from Andrey Kopetlov's class presented "STEAM Adventures at Sam Houston State!" at Northampton Elementary School in Klein ISD on May 29th, 2026. The presentation included:

Presenting how various Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math students at Sam Houston State University spend some of their time. They also presented the different kinds of jobs that they could get with these different degrees. We actually show different videos of people who attended and are attending Sam Houston who have jobs in STEAM.

Once the Presentation was finished, the students then performed two different experiments. The first group of students did the food coloring and dish soap experiment. This is where the students were given a bowl of milk and asked to choose a food coloring. Once they picked their color, three drops of food coloring were added to the bowl of milk. After that, they were given a toothpick, put it into a dish soap, and had to tell us what they saw when they combined all three items. In the second experiment, the kids were given toothpicks and marshmallows. In this experiment, the kids had 5 minutes to determine who could build the tallest structure without it falling. They were able to tear or keep the marshmallows the same. After, we would determine who had the tallest structure.
