Normal Park Gallery to Celebrate Grand Opening

The Sam Houston State University Department of Art will celebrate the grand opening of Normal Park Gallery on Nov. 5, 2026, at 6 p.m., welcoming community members, artists and art enthusiasts to experience the new gallery.

The grand opening will mark an exciting milestone for Normal Park Gallery, providing an opportunity for visitors to explore the space, discover featured artwork and learn more about the gallery’s mission and vision.

The event will take place at 901 Normal Park Drive, Suite 207, and will feature five graduating Bachelor of Fine Arts seniors, artist talks from each, snacks and lots of great art. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with fellow art enthusiasts and celebrate the opening of a new creative space in the community.

“I think the opening of this gallery is going to lead to significant growth in the art department. It also offers the opportunity for future community engagement programs such as workshops and field trips,” said Kristin Sorensen, art gallery coordinator in SHSU’s Department of Art.

Normal Park Gallery creates an inviting space where art inspires curiosity, encourages dialogue and brings people together. Through a wide range of student exhibitions and engaging programming, the gallery celebrates artistic expression, supports creative exploration and enriches the cultural life of the university and surrounding community. By welcoming a range of perspectives and experiences, the gallery strives to make art an accessible and meaningful part of everyday life.

Community members are invited to attend the grand opening and learn more about the gallery’s exhibitions, upcoming events and opportunities to get involved.
