New Dean of SHSU Graduate & Professional School Announced

Jennifer Bunn has been named the new dean of The Graduate & Professional School (GPS) at Sam Houston State University, effective May 1. Bunn has been serving in the interim dean position since Oct. 16, 2025.

“I am pleased to have Dr. Bunn move into this new role,” Sumanth Yenduri, provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs, said. “Her leadership will be instrumental in advancing graduate education at Sam Houston State University.”

Bunn, professor of kinesiology, came to SHSU in 2020 as associate dean of the College of Health Sciences, where she led initiatives in research, faculty development and graduate education. Her efforts have significantly increased external funding, expanded student research engagement and fostered cross-college collaboration.

Driven by its values of community, impact and resourcefulness, GPS helps graduate students succeed through academic support, professional development, mentorship and other resources during their time at SHSU.

SHSU offers more than 60 master’s degree programs, 10 doctoral programs and over 30 graduate certificates across a wide variety of disciplines.
