SHSU Climbs to No. 58 in Newsweek’s 2025 America’s Top Online Colleges Rankings

Sam Houston State University (SHSU) has once again been recognized as a leader in online education, earning the No. 58 spot in Newsweek’s America’s Top Online Colleges 2025 rankings—a significant jump from No. 102 in 2024.

The annual list highlights the nation’s top 250 institutions that provide high-quality, flexible online undergraduate and graduate programs. Rankings are determined through an online survey of more than 10,000 U.S. learners who have taken online courses to pursue a degree or advance their skills. Schools are evaluated on organization, student support, affordability, reputation, career outcomes, recommendation, practical relevance and overall satisfaction.

This recognition underscores SHSU’s continued commitment to excellence and innovation in online learning, providing accessible pathways for students to achieve their educational and professional goals.
