A collaboration among SHSU’s Division of Student Affairs, SHSU Online, Integrated Marketing and Communications and the Department of Mass Communication, the program will spotlight purpose-driven members of the SHSU community who are making a difference both on and beyond campus.

Hosted by Dannie Moore, vice president for Student Affairs, with student co-host Ileanna Reyes, "Beyond the Measure" features authentic conversations that highlight the impact of students, faculty, staff and alumni who lead with service.

“I was looking for a meaningful way to connect with students and share their stories, so when IMC approached me with the idea to host this podcast, I jumped at the chance,” Moore said. “Each episode reminds us of the powerful ways our community serves others, going above and beyond to bring our motto to life every day.”

Episodes will share stories from all walks of life, from Bearkats launching their own student organization to ROTC Battalion Commanders exemplifying leadership through service.

Reyes, a mass communication major, said the podcast has given her the chance to apply what she’s learned in the classroom to a real-world production setting while gaining valuable experience in interviewing, storytelling and digital media.

“Being part of this has allowed me to strengthen my skills in ways that go beyond the classroom,” Reyes said. “Getting to meet and hear from Bearkats who are truly living out our motto has shown me how much pride and heart there is in this community. I think others will feel as inspired as I do by the people who make SHSU such a special place.”

Monthly episodes will begin streaming Jan. 12, 2026. The program will be available on SHSU’s YouTube channel, Channel 7 TV and KSHU 90.5 The Kat.
