A "New" Start to 2020
Restarting SHSU in the midst of COVID-19 will require everyone to come together to help protect our Bearkat community. Reducing student density on campus every day — along with wearing facial coverings and washing hands frequently — can help stop the spread of COVID-19 while enjoying the benefits of the university experience.
To reduce student density on campus, we are adopting a blended format for most of our face-to-face classes. In order for you to learn as much as possible during the semester, we want you to spend time with your classmates and with your instructors. But we also want our students, staff and faculty to stay healthy by being able to keep a safe distance from each other. This blended option allows for both.
Although SHSU has established plans to reduce student density, increase social distancing measures, and practice enhanced cleaning, we need our community to help protect others by wearing face coverings, practicing proper hand-washing, and maintaining safe distances from others. Taking these precautions will help minimize the spread of COVID-19 and allow students the opportunity to resume the on-campus Bearkat experience.
Our plan for the fall provides a framework that will allow us to adapt to the ever-changing environment of COVID-19.
