COLLEGE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE

DR. PHILLIP M. LYONS JR., DEAN

Congratulations to you and yours on this important accomplishment. The faculty, staff, and thousands of fellow College of Criminal Justice alumni are enormously proud you have achieved this personal milestone. We understand how hard you had to work to get here and the significance of your degree for you and your future. Your future is brighter and we are both proud and pleased.

We are also hopeful, not only for your future, but also for our own. Because you have developed skills in critical thinking, an orientation toward life-long learning, and a commitment to service, we know that our communities and society will benefit from your contributions as you go out into the world. If you are among the vast majority of our graduates who will continue in the field of criminal justice, we know that your education and values will be applied in ways that make our communities safer and improve the quality of our lives. SHSU’s College of Criminal Justice confers more degrees in the field in this state than any other institution–by far. You and your fellow Bearkats will shape the future of criminal justice in Texas and beyond like no one else.

As you open the next chapter of your lives, we wish you well and hope to see you again soon. Just as we know you will be there for us, so you should know we continue to be here for you. As you embark upon your career, know we are ready to assist in your professional development through our various institutes within the Criminal Justice Center. And if graduate school may be in your future, you should consider our nationally-ranked programs targeted toward working professionals.

Again, congratulations!
