GCJD continues its ongoing work with the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas, bringing Police Chiefs and other law enforcement leaders together and engaging them on how to work with the media in their communities and during a crisis. Led by GCJD Executive Director Kelli Arena, or special guest lecturers, these workshops continually garner positive reviews, and as one participant put it, the trainings were “valuable to help understand the media process so we can better develop relationships with the journalists.” With tensions building across the nation, GCJD will continue to work with both journalists and law enforcement to maintain healthy relationships, and build trust for the mutual benefit of the public both entities serve. These trainings are especially important to Texas communities, and are part of GCJD’s mission to support our local community.
