Academic Community Engagement Spring 2014

spring 2014

This semester, students in GCJD's project based community service workshop hosted a public event to commemorate World Press Freedom Day. The projects were focused on journalists working around the globe who have been killed or injured in the line of duty. The class also worked to bring attention to the men and women who have been wrongfully convicted in Texas and elsewhere by hosting a public panel discussion featuring Anthony Graves, who sat on death row for decades before being exonerated. Finally, the class marketed, produced, researched and covered a presentation by Jay Dobyns, a former ATF undercover agent whose identity was revealed after he infiltrated the Hells Angels.
