Thank you for your interest in the Resident Advisor (RA) position at Sam Houston State University. We believe that the RA position is one of the most rewarding jobs a student can have while pursuing their education at SHSU.

Residence Life provides housing for over 3500 residents with an average staff to student ratio of 1:40. Our building options consist of small houses, large halls, apartment style, co-educational, single sex areas, inside entrance and outside entrance buildings. In addition to a variety of working experiences, as a resident advisor you will learn many transferable skills that will build your resume and be helpful throughout your life.

RAs serve as Campus Security Authorities.

You will not only grow and develop, but you will help shape the leaders of tomorrow.  Staff members help, recruit candidates such as yourself, attend conferences, and meet and work with a diverse population. The opportunities are endless.

As you go through the selection process, you will realize that it is anything but typical. We want to choose the most qualified and enthusiastic students, as we consider Resident Advisors to be among the most important leaders on campus.
