Use Duo Hardware Token
We understand that some account holders may not have a smartphone or tablet available for approving authentications. We are happy to provide an alternate solution with the Duo Hardware Token.
This device will work by providing you codes, as needed, just like using text (SMS) codes.
Please note, hardware tokens contain a battery that cannot be changed. Once this battery dies, you will have to purchase a new hardware token. It is strongly recommended to have a backup option so that you are not locked out of your account if/when this happens.
Purchasing a Duo Hardware Token
IT maintains a stock of Duo Hardware Tokens for purchase in our online store for you to purchase. Once purchased the Service Desk will notify you when your token is ready for pick.
Departments purchasing hardware keys for their employees will place a Katalyst ticket. It will provide you with an Interdepartmental Transfer for the transfer of funds. Once the signed Interdepartmental Transfer is received, we will issue a token to your employee..
Use Duo Hardware Token to Authenticate
Once you have purchased your hardware key, be sure that you report loss or theft of the token immediately to the Service Desk to keep your account secure.
Use your hardware token for approving logins by following these steps.
Duo Legacy Prompt
Log into a SHSU information resource.
Click the Enter a Passcode button.
Press the green button on your Duo Hardware Token. (Your code will only display for 30 seconds.)
Enter code from your token into the Passcode box and click Log In.
Duo Universal Prompt
Log into a SHSU information resource.
Select Other Options from the Duo prompt.
Select Hardware Token from the list of options.
Press the green button on your Duo Hardware Token. (Your code will only display for 30 seconds.)
Enter the code provided and click Verify.
