Required for all incoming new international students, including bachelor, master, doctoral, exchange, and transfer students.
Fall 2020 New International Student Orientation Schedule
At the orientation, you will learn important immigration rules and responsibilities that help you maintain your international student status, as well as different resources on campus. You will also have a chance to interact with staff and faculty members from different departments.
Please Note: Optional lunches are provided for all students with no additional costs.
All new incoming international students are required to do the following:
- Check into the Office of International Programs (located in the Farrington Building, Room 116) upon arrival to receive your updated I-20.
- Complete the SHSU New International Student Orientation modules on Blackboard. These can be completed once you arrive in Texas. Instructions on how to complete the orientation modules will be sent via email.
- Attend the Mini-Orientation session on Friday, August 14, 2020. The schedule for each Mini-Orientation will be as follows:
10:30 a.m.: Check-in and welcome to SHSU
10:45 a.m.: Welcome to SHSU, What to do when you arrive
11:15 a.m.: F1 student rights and responsibilities
11:45 a.m.: Guide to international student insurance
12:00 p.m.: Welcome lunch at General's Market (optional- free food!)
1:00 p.m.: Campus tour (optional)
****New International Student Orientation is mandatory for all incoming international students. Students with a conflict should contact Dana at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible. Only students with an approved conflict will be excused from orientation.
