Spring Registration is OPEN!

ELITE_Evolve5

evolve is a student support program housed in Academic Affairs that provides retention-based support services for female students, especially our transfer population. We want transfer females to value their undergraduate experience and finish at Sam Houston State University.

In the development of evolve, we learned that most female students want to be involved and connected to the University as well. So while Transfer females are the primary target - the program is open to any female student (sophomore and above) who is looking for community and connection.

evolve is comprised of four program components that not only complement one another, but also provide holistic educational experiences & opportunities for female students. Our mission is to help students evolve as scholars, as women & as professionals.

By participating in evolve, you will develop a sense of community and belonging and receive specialized student support services. You will become integrated into the SHSU experience and cultivate your heart to serve others by living the University motto, “The measure of a Life is its Service.”

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?!

Program participants attend Small Group Meetings or are mentored by a Professional Faculty/Staff Member for 4 weeks and are invited to the exclusive {members only} Evolution Speaker series events which feature successful, professional women sharing their stories of evolution into womanhood. Throughout the semester, we also help you gain access to campus involvement by hosting Leadership/Professional Development & Department/Organization Info sessions. Our monthly social events and group message platform will ensure you are connected to a support network and have our resources and services when you need them.

Independently and together with your small group, we approach service, from the lens of "Find a Need, Fill a Need - either on campus or in the local community."

As you work through fulfilling the 4 Program Components, you gain access to Priority Registration. {Program Participation works best if you are taking classes and are frequently at the main campus in Huntsville. You are NOT REQUIRED to be on campus, however you will benefit the most by being in/around the Huntsville area.}

Ambassadors

Ambassadors are a select group of females who serve as student representatives to aid in building & shaping the Program Components of evolve. They are the student voices that drive the program to ensure that it continues to be an initiative built for students, by students.

If you are new to campus/program, evolve participants can be paired with an Ambassador who serves as a direct companion for navigating campus and/or the program.

Our Ambassadors have incredibly diverse campus involvement ranging from Intramural Sports and Athletic Training to Orientation Leader, Orange Keys, Honors College, Black Student Alliance, Sororities, Women Empowerment organizations and Natural Hair Societies.
