Purpose. Serves in an advisory capacity to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs; provides a forum for the discussion of distance education matters; serves as initial academic policy development and review body as requested by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs; provides a forum for communicating more effectively on all distance education concerns; and provides a forum for sharing best practices in distance education.

Member Appointments. The committee will consist of 19 individuals.  Members will be appointed by the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs from nominations submitted by the Deans (for college faculty representatives), the Director of the Newton Gresham Library (as the NGL representative), and University Faculty Senate (for UFS representatives) and will serve three-year rotating terms.  Members shall consist of one administrator and one faculty member from each college, two members of the University Faculty Senate, and one librarian.

Chair Appointment. The Associate Vice President for Distance Learning will serve as Chair of the committee for an indefinite term.
