Purpose. The purpose of the Academic Integrity Committee is to serve as an advisory committee to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs regarding issues of student academic integrity. The committee will work to sustain a culture of the highest standards of academic integrity in accordance with the University's Honor Code. The committee assists the Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs with data gathering and recommends, develops, and executes academic integrity initiatives on behalf of the University.

Please note the Academic Integrity Committee does not serve as an adjudicating body for academic integrity violations. Those infractions are addressed through Academic Policy Statement 810213 - Academic Honesty and by the Dean of Students Office. The committee serves in an advisory capacity only.

Member Appointments. The Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs appoints an Associate or Assistant Dean to serve as an Administrator as well as one staff member from Information Technology (IT) and one staff member from the Dean of Students' office. The academic Deans nominate one faculty representative from each of the eight colleges and the Executive Director of the Newton Gresham Library nominates one faculty representative from the Newton Gresham Library. All committee members, with the exception of the Chair and Chair-Elect, will serve three-year terms expiring at the end of the academic year on August 31.

Chair Appointment. The Chair will have served as the Chair-Elect for the previous academic year and will serve a one-year term expiring on August 31.

Chair-Elect Appointment. The Chair-Elect is elected by committee members and will serve a one-year term expiring on August 31, after which they will serve as the committee Chair. The Chair-Elect must be a faculty member of the committee. (Note: When elected, the Chair-Elect must have at least two years remaining on the committee.)
