My name is Mary Elizabeth Mueller and I am the lead teacher SHSU Charter School Brighton Academy as well as the 1st grade Language Arts/Social Studies teacher. I graduated from the University of Central Florida and I met my husband, Ted, while in college in Florida. We have two children and two dogs. I am so excited to have both of my children with me at the SHSU Charter School this year. One of the reasons I chose to come to the SHSU Charter school was for my children’s personal education. I wanted to ensure my children had a high quality education and that they were more than "just a number" as is common within larger, traditional, public school settings. I have been in education since 2004 and I am a certified teacher with an ESL certificate. My teaching experience includes Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade and I have also served as a campus RTI interventionist. I love teaching at the charter school where I am encouraged to try new methods, ideas, and different styles of teaching. The small school atmosphere is so wonderful and I enjoy getting to know my students and their families.
