Alan Byboth is a biologist, with a master of science degree from The University of Texas at Tyler, and is well versed in the natural history of East Texas. For 17 years he was the Property Manager for the Camp Tyler Outdoor Learning Center, in Smith County, Texas. He then served for six years as the Executive Director of the Camp Tyler Foundation, a 501(c)(3) not for profit, mission driven organization. Before coming to SHSU he taught Human A&P, Microbiology, General Biology, Botany, and Plant Taxonomy at UTT. He is also a skilled craftsman, mechanic, farmer and woodsman. Alan resides at the Center for Biological Field Studies with his wife, Jenny. He is available during business hours to assist faculty, researchers, students, and visitors.
