Returning Students

Returning applicants are undergraduate students who attended SHSU in the past and are looking to complete a bachelor’s degree at Sam Houston State University. Returning SHSU students may have completed transferable coursework at other colleges or universities.

If you attended SHSU in the past, obtained a bachelor’s degree at SHSU or another university and would like to pursue a graduate degree or second bachelor’s degree at Sam Houston State University, please see admissions information for prospective graduate students.

    2. Submit official transcripts from every community college or university attended

Admission Requirements

All students applying for readmission into the university must present a minimum, combined grade point average of 2.0 or higher on all transferable hours.

A returning student placed on academic probation during their last semester at SHSU will be readmitted on academic probation regardless of whether the student has since attended another institution.

Please note, if you were suspended or placed on probation, you must seek approval from the Dean of your identified college to be admitted to SHSU. The approval form must be submitted to the Office of Admissions by the application deadline. To find the appropriate Dean, please contact the Registrar’s Office at 936-294-1040.
