November 27 & 29, December 1, 2018
“Every single thing leads to everything else.” This gripping story of two Princeton freshmen, Amber and Tom, investigates gender and race politics, our crippling desire to fit in, and the three sides to every story. Sam Houston State University’s Department of Theatre and Musical Theatre presents student director Hannah Meade’s Director Debut with Anna Ziegler’s gripping play Actually in the Showcase Theatre November 27 and 29 at 7:30 and December 1 at 2 p.m.The incredibly powerful story creates a portrait of a generation as it explores the murky and treacherous sexual culture of making decisions and how every one of those decisions creates the people we are in this very moment. The script captures the essence of Tom and Amber as college freshman wrangling with sex, alcohol, relationships, race, religion, and their parents on their own and away from home for the first time. The play pries open the heads and hearts of its two fragile characters as Ziegler powerfully indicts university culture showing that there are three sides to every story: the perception of the two individuals involved and the truth.
