MDSEC

The Medical and Dental School Evaluation Committee (MDSEC) supports applicants by reviewing application packets and providing a letter of support based on the review and an in-person interview.  The purpose of the committee is to give applicants valuable feedback to prepare them for applying to professional school and to ensure a personal and quality letter of evaluation. To be eligible for a committee interview, applicants must submit all required documents according to the MDSEC timeline.  The purpose of the timeline is to encourage early submission, which is necessary for a successful application. SHSU students may participate in the MDSEC prior to or post graduation.

The Department Chair of Biological Sciences serves as chair of the committee. Faculty members from the College of Science and Engineering Technology, the College of Health Sciences, and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences are nominated by their respective Dean to serve on the committee.  Members of the committee teach courses in the Biomedical Sciences or have experience or interests that align with the committee. For more information call the Biology Department office at (936)294-1540.
