Dennis Wooten

Dr. Dennis Wooten is originally from Quitman, Georgia. He is an Assistant Professor of Pathology within the Department of Clinical Anatomy at Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.  Dr. Wooten has held teaching positions at Sinclair College and Wright State University.  Both institutions are in Dayton, Ohio. 

Dr. Wooten has an extensive background in research and pathology.  He earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry at Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN.  Upon leaving Purdue, Dr. Wooten completed a research postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.  Seeking greater medical knowledge, Dr. Wooten attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, followed by a full residency in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, where he also team-taught pathology within the second-year pathology course. Dr. Wooten also completed a clinical fellowship in Clinical Chemistry upon finishing his residency in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

Dr. Wooten also served his country on active duty for ten years in the United States Air Force, where he directed several clinical laboratories within the United States and served in deployed locations in Southwestern Asia.  Upon leaving active military duty, Dr. Wooten joined the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Dayton, OH, where he became Director of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
