Transitional Support
Students in a special education and individuals with disabilities programs have unique needs during transitional moments. Build skills and insight into transition assessments.

Transition Assessment
The courses in this program address transition assessment models for elementary, secondary, and 18-21 adult programs. Students study formal and informal transition assessments, functional vocational evaluations, and person- and family- centered planning. Students also explore current issues and practices related to transition services to address post-school outcomes, integrating transition into academics, and self-determination.

Youth Employment Training
Students learn theories, practices, methods, and processes of career development and employment for youth and young adults with disabilities. Students gain knowledge and skills in career development techniques, work-based learning, collaboration with vocational rehabilitation, data collection for decision-making within special education transition programming designed to lead to employment.

Professional Application
Students will be able to utilize transition assessments on an ongoing basis to develop transition plans using evidence-based practices and research. They learn to successfully align instructional activities and related activities with postsecondary goals and objectives, related to the transition of individuals with disabilities and beyond.
