What do students study?

Courses in the SHSU MPH program include Immigrant and Refugee Health, Public Health Grant Writing and Human Ecology.  Key issues for discussion include global concerns in occupational health, preventive healthcare, health disparities, community health, and environmental health concerns.

Specialized Concentrations

  • Global Health and Social Justice

    Explore how health challenges connect local and global communities. This concentration focuses on rural and underserved populations, social equity, and environmental health issues—preparing you to address global concerns like access to care, pollution, and preventive health on a community and worldwide scale.

  • Health Education and Promotion

    Prepare to improve community well-being through education and advocacy. This concentration trains you to design, implement, and evaluate public health programs, address health disparities, and promote health equity across schools, workplaces, and communities.
