The Minor in Homeland Security Studies prepares students to understand and address today’s critical security challenges. The program explores threats and hazards ranging from terrorism and cyber risks, to pandemics, through natural and technological hazards, environmental crises, as well as hybrid and cascading threats equipping students with a strong foundation in homeland security concepts while developing critical thinking, research, policy, and analytical skills.
Through courses that cover global terrorism, emergency and disaster management, and critical infrastructure protection, students examine national preparedness and response systems, resilience strategies, and the importance of collaboration and communication among agencies and organizations. Students also gain practical insight into how security policies are designed, implemented, and coordinated to protect communities, infrastructure, and ecological systems.
