The field encompasses virtually all major large-scale threats and hazards to the rule of law and the stability of society, infrastructure, and ecology. Emphasizing interdisciplinary learning, the degree equips graduates for diverse roles in federal, state, and local agencies, as well as private sector security and public safety. The broad educational objective of the program is to develop thinkers, analysts, managers, and leaders who possess expertise in both theoretical frameworks and experiential dimensions of homeland security. The program will provide students with a strong knowledge base in the field as well as a toolbox of analytical and communication skills needed for careers in the field.
With expert faculty guidance and real-world applications, students gain the knowledge and skills needed to protect communities and contribute to national security efforts effectively.
The Bachelor of Science requires additional hours of a social science (e.g., psychology, sociology, political science, communication studies, etc.), whereas the Bachelor of Arts requires additional hours of a foreign language (e.g., Spanish, French, American Sign, etc.).
