​​The Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration at Sam Houston State University prepares students to lead, manage, and improve the delivery of health services in today’s evolving healthcare landscape. This multidisciplinary program integrates health policy, business principles, and organizational management to equip students with the skills needed to make strategic decisions that impact public health and patient outcomes. 

​​Multidisciplinary 120-hour degree​ 

 ​Students develop a strong foundation in leadership, planning, human resources, health promotion, and financial operations—skills essential to guiding healthcare organizations toward efficiency and wellness-centered care.​ 

​​Where and How Is This Program Available?​ 

​​The BS in Healthcare Administration is offered in person at our Huntsville campus and online with classes in the spring, fall and summer.​

  • ​​The How and Why of Care

    ​​The bachelor of science in health care administration helps students distinguish among various roles in the health care services industry. You’ll analyze data and information for effective decision making, and understand the legal and ethical principles and responsibilities of health care organizations. You’ll discover ways to strategically evaluate and improve performance in health care organizations. Most of all, this major lets you demonstrate collaborative leadership and teamwork, important skills that give you an edge in health care careers.​ 

  • ​​Practical Experience ​

    You will have the option to participate in professional internships with local, state-wide, national, or international health services organizations. These placements let you blend your classroom experience with real-world situations that help you network with professionals, delve deeper into health care administration and showcase your own leadership and analytical skills.

    ​​If you choose to pursue your degree online, you have the option to take classes when they make sense for you and your schedule. This gives you flexibility to focus on your present while you’re working toward your future. ​
