SHSU’s Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security provides focused, in-depth training for students and professionals who want to strengthen their knowledge of critical infrastructure security, network defense, and cyber risk. Designed for individuals with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, the certificate helps students build the technical foundation needed to assess vulnerabilities, prevent attacks, and support cybersecurity operations across business, industry, and government settings.

Through courses in cryptography, malware, network security, cyber warfare, and cyber law or business continuity, students gain practical knowledge that can support career growth or further graduate study in computing, digital forensics, and cybersecurity fields.

Who Is This Certificate For? 

This certificate is designed for students who already hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely related field and want focused graduate training in cybersecurity. Applicants should have a minimum 3.0 GPA and a background in computer networks, databases, calculus and statistics.

What Will I Study? 

Students complete 15 credit hours covering cryptography, malware, network and cyber security, cyber warfare and terrorism, plus an elective in business continuity management or cyber law. Students who need additional preparation may be required to complete graduate stem courses.
