Our program equips you with strong communication skills such as interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, listening, persuasion, conflict resolution, strategic organizational communication, small group, deception, communication and sport, and theories of communication, among other areas.
Graduates find career opportunities in both the public and private sectors. They can range from public relations, corporate communication, health communication liaison, event planner, human resources, management, and more, leveraging their understanding of human interaction to shape and share compelling messages.

Examine Your Journey
Communication studies offers both the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BS). The BA option requires 14 hours of a foreign language plus a philosophy course, while the BS requires 8 hours of natural science plus a math/statistics or computer science course beyond the core curriculum science requirement.
Students should select a minor that suits their interests and career goals. Common minors include English, political science, foreign languages, psychology, criminal justice, or sociology.

Honor Society
Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) is the National Communication Association’s official honor society at four-year colleges and universities. LPH has more than 500 active chapters at four-year colleges and universities nationwide.
LPH represents what Aristotle described in Rhetoric as three ingredients of persuasion: logos (Lambda), meaning logic; pathos (Pi), relating to emotion; and ethos (Eta), defined as character credibility and ethics.
