The MA in Band Studies is a 30-hour graduate degree designed for working band directors, completed over the course of three summers. The program combines online coursework with an intensive summer residency in Texas, offering access to renowned conductors, educators, and clinicians. With a focus on rehearsal techniques, pedagogy, score analysis, and band literature, this summer-only program provides flexible, targeted professional development. You'll build practical skills, deepen your musical knowledge, and connect with fellow educators—all while advancing your career without stepping away from your current teaching position.

How is the MA in Band Studies Structured?

This is a summer-only degree program completed over three summers. Students take online courses and attend a summer residency each year in Texas. The hybrid format allows working band directors to continue teaching during the school year while completing their degree through focused summer study. Coursework includes conducting, pedagogy, score analysis, and band literature.
