Build on Experience with a BAAS Degree

Sam Houston State University’s Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (B.A.A.S.) is designed for students with an Associate of Applied Science or similar degree. It allows up to 66 transferable technical credit hours and builds upon that foundation with core academics, a chosen minor, electives, and optional hands-on learning. This flexible 120-credit program helps students advance their careers by enhancing their technical expertise with communication, leadership, and critical thinking skills tailored to real-world professional settings.

Who’s Eligible?

To be eligible for the BAAS program, you must:

  • Hold an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree with at least 36 hours of technical coursework.
  • Be advised by the BAAS program coordinator before admission and course planning.
Real-World Experience Through Internships

Hands-on learning is a key part of the BAAS experience. You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Participate in internships or work-based mentorships for up to nine credit hours.
  • Gain practical experience in your field while earning academic credit.
