Prepare for Wildlife Careers

The Wildlife Management minor allows Animal Science majors to expand their expertise into the ecology, biology, and management of free-ranging wildlife populations. Students gain a strong foundation in animal science while adding coursework in wildlife systems, habitat management, rangeland ecology, and ranch-based wildlife practices. Through hands-on training at SHSU’s agricultural and field facilities, students learn how to apply scientific principles to wildlife conservation, land stewardship, and population management. This combination prepares graduates for diverse roles in wildlife agencies, private land management, conservation organizations, and agricultural operations that integrate livestock and wildlife systems.
