Biography:
Professor Bryand serves as a Forensic Laboratory Supervisor and Forensic Program Coordinator in the Forensic Science Program at Sam Houston State University. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Texas A&M University in 2001 and her Master of Science in Forensic Science at Sam Houston State University in 2003. From 2003 to 2006, she worked on an Air Force Grant with Texas Research Institute for Environmental Studies (TRIES) at Sam Houston State University to help develop bioremediation techniques. Currently, she co-owns a patent on bacteria-alginate bead systems and methods.
For the past nine years as a Forensic Program Coordinator & Forensic Laboratory Supervisor, Professor Bryand coordinates the forensic science internships for the graduate students, purchases lab supplies and capital equipment, assists the professors with students' capstone/research projects, organizes community service, manages the laboratories, and assists the Chair of the Department of Forensic Science. She also teaches an Introduction to Forensic Science undergraduate and Crime Scene Investigation Techniques courses at SHSU. Professor Bryand has been a contributing author in multiple peer-reviewed journals and is an active member of the American Academy of Forensic Science and Southwestern Association of Toxicologists.
