Dr. Spears teaches Oceanography, Physical Geology, and occasionally, Historical Geology. She formerly worked as an Exploration Geologist for ExxonMobil, working both conventional and unconventional prospects around the world. Her doctoral work focused on using marine sediment chemistry to reconstruct climate and ocean conditions in the past. She was also an active participant in the Ocean Drilling Program and sailed on Leg 206 in the eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean.
